We recommend a three step program for managing equine wounds. Be sure to prevent tetanus by keeping vaccinations current with appropriate USDA-licensed tetanus toxoid and antitoxin biological products as recommended by your veterinarian.
Our Antiseptic Gel is a low-sudsing antimicrobial skin cleanser featuring sodium chlorite as its active ingredient. This product incorporates chlorine dioxide chemistry that is well known for its broad-spectrum antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. The proprietary formula is effective against numerous equine wound-associated bacteria at low concentration WITHOUT activating with acid as compared with other sodium chlorite cleansers that require activation.
Recommended Use: We suggest clipping the hair surrounding the wound, rinsing with clean water, then applying Heal-A-Horse® Antiseptic Gel. Scrub the wound free of foreign matter, rinse and then reapply and scrub again. After the final rinse, generously spray the wound with Heal-A-Horse Antiseptic Wound Spray as recommended below.
Heal-A-Horse Antiseptic Spray incorporates patented oxychlorine technology and combines it with other ingredients, such as aloe vera to help promote healing while providing the same antibacterial effects of sodium chlorite and a high level of available chlorine dioxide WITHOUT activating.
Recommended Use: After cleansing free of debris, generously spray the wound with Heal-A-Horse Antiseptic Spray, allow to dry, then reapply. Continue applying spray as directed by your veterinarian. Now apply Heal-A-Horse Wound Cream as recommended below.
Our Banana Cream contains a patented Banana Peel Extract (BPx) in a vanishing cream base and is intended for applying to superficial cuts, abrasions, burns, dermatitis and skin irritations.
Recommended Use: Generously apply Heal-A-Horse Banana Cream to the affected area 1-2 times daily. Cream may be applied under non-occlusive dressings or on open wounds.
Equi-Salve™ is intended as an aid in managing equine sarcoids, the most common skin tumor of horses. The product is safe, even for use on sensitive areas such as around the eyes, mouth or genital areas.
Recommended Use: Apply Equi-Salve lightly over affected area using a clean flat plastic, wood or metal applicator or by hand wearing a disposable glove. Apply daily or as directed by your veterinarian until resolution is achieved.
Effective resolution time depends upon tumor size and depth of tissue involvement (may take weeks or months).
