Case Studies - Heal-A-Horse

Four (4) year-old Quarter Horse mare presented on July 27, 2005 with chronic (2 years) exuberant granulation tissue (proud flesh) at two locations on the anterior surface of the right hock. The top lesion measured 5.0 cm in diameter and the lower one 3.5 cm in diameter.

Day 1

Dr. Brett White cleaned the wound thoroughly with Heal-A-Horse® Antiseptic Cleansing Gel, then generously applied Heal-A-Horse® Antiseptic Wound Spray and allowed to set for 5 minutes. Finally, Heal-A-Horse® Wound Cream (Banana Peel Extract Cream) was applied twice on Day 1.

Day 2

Hydrotherapy (garden hose) started this day and then continued once daily. Antiseptic Wound Spray was again applied generously then Banana Wound Cream spread over the wound twice on Day 2.

Day 3

Continued hydrotherapy daily until healthy granulation bed formed over wound or if the granulation seemed excessive. The wound was gently cleaned free of dried serum and loose scabs using warm water, then Banana Cream applied twice daily.

Wound Spray was used ONLY on those areas where granulation became excessive. One or two treatments with the spray were generally sufficient to stop "proud flesh".
